The causes for involuntary loss of urine vary depending on the actual type of incontinence. In most cases, the urine loss is a sign of anatomical or functional disorder.
Indication
For stress incontinence or mixed forms of stress and urge incontinence. A viable pelvic floor is required. It is advisable that there has been no operation before. The dome shifts the transition of the bladder to the urethra and prevents an opening if the upper urethra under stressful situations.
Description
The medesign urethra pessary provides a well proven conventional treatment. By the ring-shaped dome a support of the urethra and an improvement in the urethral closure function can be achieved.
The urethra pessary has been used for about 40 years in practice. The thickening at the top of the bases supports the entering of the urethra during pressing and deeply coughing and improves its sealing function.
The Urethra-Pessary contains a metal spring for stabilization. The medesign pessary fitting kit allows determination of pessary size in the doctor's office and includes the sizes 65, 70, 75 and 80 mm.

Usage
At first the thin part of the urethra pessary is inserted with some lubricant (eg Ladysoft). When placing the pessary the exact location for the dome below the urethra has to be found. Without intercourse the urethra pessary slips very rarely. If there is urine flow despite proper position of the pessary, the position of the dome has to be adjusted or a bigger pessary has to be used.
